Custodian Position at Memphis Business AcademyMemphis Business Academy is seeking dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented custodians to join our facilities team. Custodians play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in ensuring school facilities are well-maintained and meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.Key Responsibilities:Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gyms, and other school facilities.Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces throughout assigned areas.Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.Clean and restock restroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.Maintain cleanliness of entrances, sidewalks, and outdoor common areas.Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and repair needs to the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager.Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure facilities meet health and safety standards.Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.Assist with minor maintenance tasks as assigned.Support emergency cleaning needs related to spills, weather events, or other facility issues.Ensure compliance with all school safety policies and procedures.Other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Manager, or School Administration.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and visitors.Ability to work flexible hours when needed, including evenings or special events.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and tools.Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.Ability to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with safety guidelines.Compensation:Competitive salary based on experience.Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and retirement options.Paid holidays and school breaks in accordance with school policies.Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.Memphis Business Academy is committed to providing a safe, clean, and supportive learning environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
